Bliss & Bless is a cozy book café at Myungdong. You might think this place as one of coffee

chains like Starbucks or Tom n Toms. But there is a distinct difference. Unlike any other coffee

chains, you can feel the shop is filled with aroma of ‘kind’ coffee as you step inside of

Bliss & Bless.

 

 

 

 

 

 Bliss & Bless is one of the projects of “Merry Year Foundation”, a NGO working on founding

and managing social enterprises for stable employments of ‘Sae tomin’ (which means new

settlers who defected from North Korea). Bliss & Bless is their 4th social enterprise, and their

4th ‘Factory of Hope’.

 

The harsh reality of young Sae tomins’ unstable employments has been always a big problem.

But it was considered much less important than unemployment crisis of young South Koreans.

So there was no measure to help them to get stable jobs.  

 

 

 

  

By educating them to be professional baristas and hiring them at Bliss & Bless, Merry Year

Foundation is supporting young generation of Sae tomins to work in the competitive service

industry. And if one of these baristas is ready, they can even have a chance to open a chain

shop of Bliss & Bless.

 

Under their motto : “The best Charity is helping the needy to be self-reliance”, now Bliss & Bless

is also raising fund by having events at café to support social works like establishing clinics and

parceling out goats in India and Africa.

 

 

 

 

While you sit and enjoy your coffee here, you can see a sign says, “Drink Coffee, Change Lives”.

That is the exact reason why this place exists. A cup of coffee you drink here can change

someone’s life.

 

With this cozy coffee shop Bliss & Bless, young Sae tomin can have stable and rewarding jobs,

and also have chance to get along with other people in South Korea.

 

 

 

 

  

So if you happened to go to Myungdong, have a chance to drink a warm cup of coffee at

Bliss & Bless to share your love and hope.
